Schoology Is In--Webpages Are Out!
In an attempt to prepare our 5th grade Bulldogs for NPMS, we will begin introducing them to Schoology the week of May 11th.  Students will work with our iCoach to set up their school issued emails and to begin exploring Schoology.  This is the platform that the teachers use at NPMS to post events, assignments, and all important information.  Because of this push to immerse the kids into Schoology these last few weeks, Friday, May 15th will be the last day anything is posted to class webpages.  For further information and lists of assignments, please refer to your child's Schoology account.  Ask him/her to see Schoology on their iPad and to see what assignments were posted.  Check out the news feed for important information!  Next year, parents will receive further information on how to set up their own Schoology accounts but for the remainder of this year--please rely on the students to share with you what has been inputed each day.  We hope this transition is beneficial to our Bulldogs as they transform into Cougars!
Luhr Park-Friday, May 15th
This is an outdoor event in which students travel to different Science stations centered around conservation.  Students should dress appropriately for Friday's weather and bring a sack lunch!  No special drop-off or pick-up is necessary, this trip is during the normal school day. In the case of severe storms, the trip will be canceled and students will attend classes as usual.  If only light rain is expected, the students WILL be at Luhr Park!  If the trip is canceled we will be notified at 8:00 AM so students should PLAN to attend the trip when they leave the house in the morning and we'll go from there!  If the trip is canceled it will NOT be rescheduled.
Medieval Times-Tuesday, May 19th
Important information regarding this trip will be in this week's Friday Folder.  We will be traveling to Schaumburg via chartered buses and will pull out of RPES at 8:00 AM.  Students must have a ride to school by 7:50 AM.  We will be back at 4:00 PM, so again, students must arrange for a ride to be at the school at 4:00 for pick up.  Students may bring souvenir money if they choose--this is not required.  We will NOT be in the classrooms at all on Tuesday so backpacks, school materials, and other school supplies should be left at home.  Once students are dropped off at 7:50 AM, they will directly board the charter buses, we will not go down to classrooms.  This is going to be a GREAT day--we can't wait!
Upcoming Field Trips & Behavior Contract
It's an exciting time of year!  We have two upcoming trips:  Conservation Days at Luhr Park (5/15) and Medieval Times in Chicago (5/19).   These trips must be earned by students.   We will use a behavior plan (similar to the that of our Heston Manners Luncheon) to determine eligibility for the trips.  In the April 17th Friday Folder, behavior contracts will be sent home.  These need to be returned by the following Tuesday.  We hope these incentive experiences provide students with the motivation to end the year strong.  More information on both trips will be forthcoming!
